Welcome
I hope you enjoy your visit here. My name is Cathy and I live in West Central Wisconsin, where we have four seasons, Still winter, summer, almost winter and winter....which gives a gal a lot of time indoors unless she loves to ski or go ice fishing, both of which I do not. I love to sew though, so much of my winter is spent in my sewing studio. Not too long after my hubby and I retired our daughter decided to sell her new home and relocate to a nearby city. Since we had been talking about downsizing to a smaller retirement home, we decided to sell our big house and buy her smaller one. In order to accomodate our hobbies though, we found it necessary to build a shed, and we finished part of it out with a bathroom, kitchenette and space for our hobbies (mine sewing and hubby's hunting/fishing). Hence, our 'Caves".
Qult Show 2010
Below are 3 of the quilts I am entering in annual quilt show. My favorite is the one with the star border. It is copied from an old civil war pattern. Blogger cut the size of the pics so you only see a portion of them.
Summer Quilts
Below are two quilts I finished this summer. One is a 4th of July wallhanging I finished on the 3rd...the next is a photo memory quilt I made for our oldest granddaughter's high school graduation. She is very active in softball and I made the quilt using team and single photos of all of the softball teams she has played on. The center panel is 16 x 20 and printed out in 4 sheets of fabric which had to be sewed back together. I handquilted her hair and machine quilted the remainder.
Christmas 2009
Has another year really passed by? Seems as though they go faster with each passing one. This Christmas is bittersweet. I lost my mom on December 5th so am working my way through baking and shopping between tears and sadness. I am comforted knowing she and dad are reunited, but still would rather they be sitting at my table, nibbling on my cookies. We have had some major snowstorms, with another forecasted on Christmas Eve, so have backup plans for the 27th, just in case some are snowbound at home. I finished my baking and posted pictures of the results of my labors. Still have wrapping and a tiny bit of shopping tomorrow so will put up more pics when finished. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Joyous New Year.
Below is a wall quilt I made for the holidays. The pattern is a Thimbleberries, called Town Square. I modified the border and made a couple of other small changes.
